Sponsor: Yorkshire and Humber RSP

The Regional Skills Partnership (RSP) for Yorkshire and Humber has been established to ‘step up a gear’ in meeting the skills challenge outlined in the National Skills Strategy “21st Century Skills Realising Our potential” White Paper.

The RSP is concerned with ensuring that the ‘demands’ for skills from Businesses, Communities and Individuals  are matched by the ‘suppliers’ of skills development (Education and Training providers) and are supported by the agencies/ organisations that fund or invest in skills training.  Essentially the RSP aims to ensure that the Leitch Review is implemented in this region.

The RSP Board agreed its key strategic themes as the following:-

  • Employability: to enhance the employability of individuals by giving them skills to take up employment opportunities including improving skills for life and job readiness
  • Higher Level Qualifications: to promote, develop and deliver the up-skilling of those in employment through) higher level skills training and development in line with labour market needs, (designed to deliver a highly productive workforce.
  • Business Support: to refine and develop the offer to employers, providing integrated business support in response to customer needs designed to deliver the skills that they need to enhance business productivity and growth.

In order to deliver on the above it is important that the RSP ensures that it:

  • Is demand led based on robust evidence
  • adds value and provide additionality
  • works on a strategic platform
  • applies collective influence both regionally and nationally across a wide range of partners
